Nice To Meet You!

My name is Eliza.

I thrive for challenges and I love finding solutions for them

I am currently employed as a lighting designer at Stanford Hotels Corporation, where my primary focus is crafting user-centric experiences while also considering the business and brand aspects of our projects.

Over time, I've come to realize my strong interest in collaborating with manufacturers to tailor their products to precisely meet our project requirements. My inherent curiosity drives me to explore the 'how' and 'why' behind design decisions, constantly seeking ways to enhance their impact on customers' daily lives.

This curiosity has led me down the path of understanding user behaviors and needs, ultimately expanding my horizons into the realm of user experience (UX) design. I find the intersection of product and UX design particularly appealing as it embodies key principles from architecture and interior design, such as human-centered design and empathetic understanding of user needs. I thrive on challenges and derive immense satisfaction from devising innovative solutions.

My educational background includes a Bachelor of Science in Interior Design from San Francisco State University, and I have recently undertaken part-time courses at General Assembly to further enrich my knowledge in UX and product design."

My Journey

I love to problem solve, create and design. I believe that design is powerful and can be used to create experiences that excel productivity, likability and enrich our daily lives. I find that learning from others, excites me and pushes me to challenge my creative side.

1.
Interior Design

I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Interior Design from San Francisco State University. My time at the university significantly nurtured and expanded my artistic and creative abilities. During this period, I cultivated a deep passion for the intricacies of colors, furniture, fabrics, and floor plans. One particularly enriching experience was working at Design Within Reach in San Francisco and a prestigious residential design firm. It was here that my passion for design flourished even further. Every project I undertook provided me with valuable opportunities to delve into novel concepts, honing my design expertise and expanding my knowledge base."

2.
Lighting Design

My current role at Stanford Hotels Corporation has afforded me the invaluable opportunity to gain insights into the operational aspects of hotels. In collaboration with various manufacturers, I am tasked with designing and developing light fixtures tailored to the unique needs of each project, ranging from grand chandeliers to small bedside sconces. Throughout this process, I have embraced a design approach that prioritizes practicality.

Continuous improvement is at the core of my work philosophy. I actively seek feedback from both hotel staff and guests, using their insights to enhance the quality of my projects.
‍I sought to acquire a fresh outlook on the realm of functional and efficient interior design. During this journey, I discovered that lighting not only enhances the aesthetics of a space but also plays a crucial role in stabilizing our circadian rhythms, significantly impacting our overall mood.

3.

I take pleasure in enhancing the value of products and crafting compelling success narratives. I am actively seeking an opportunity to collaborate with accomplished designers, aiming to leverage my existing skills while also nurturing their growth.
