Travel Coin originated from my recent overseas journey. I frequently found myself either reaching for my phone or consulting local sales representatives to convert Indian rupees to US dollars and UAE dirhams to Indian rupees. While using a calculator is straightforward with a known conversion rate, it becomes challenging when traveling to multiple countries and needing to memorize the current currency rates.
Almost everyone finds a vacation aboard is exciting. After getting their travel visa, planning out an itinerary, booking a place to stay and packing the necessary items, the last thing travelers forget to do is to familiarize themselves with foreign currency and understand the currency exchange rates. Whether if its payment through credit cards or cash, travelers would like to know how much they are spending in their currency.
Travelers of all Kinds
Streamline the process of converting foreign currency
For my case study, I plan on doing the following
Travelers of all Kinds
During my research, I explored other currency rate apps on the market. My objective was to understand the tools and methods travelers employ to ascertain currency rates while journeying abroad.
• How do they perceive the experience of conducting foreign transactions? Are they conscious of the exact amount they are spending?
• What tools do travelers rely on to gauge the cost of a product in their home currency?
• What are the prevalent challenges they encounter during foreign transactions?"
Travelers require a convenient method to effortlessly obtain the currency exchange rates between their home country and the foreign destination. This allows them to make financially informed decisions during their travels abroad."
We went through many iteration processes and took continual feedback from testers. The first round, we forwarded the mock up to 30 people and created a google form asking testers for their rating on usability . We asked the rate the overall app, the UI design, responsiveness, would they use the app, if they checked out any competitors, and any general feedback/ suggestions for improvements. All testers said the app is intuitive. Many test find the first screen. interface to be self-explanation.
A few comments were made on UX and UI.
Because many users find the app intuitive, we kept the main currency converter on the top half of the screen. We included two icon on the bottom of the screen - "Pairs" and "Countries". "Pairs"/ "Countries" would be shown on the remaining bottom half of the screen.
Once users select the two countries they want to convert, they can tap on the bookmark icon and it would be save as their "Favorite Pairs" Country for a quick easy conversion.
By tapping on "Countries" , user would be able to add and compile a list of their favorite countries. Their "favorite countries" currency rate would fluctuate based on the main country currency amount inputted on the top half of the screen.
Users can delete their "Favorite Currency" or "Pairs" by making a full left swipe or they can swipe left half way and click on the trash icon.
Users can find/search country or the name of the currency.
