There are numerous floor lamps on the market; however, to meet the hotel's needs (guest experience to hotel maintenance) there are specific requirements beside visual appearance. Based on previous hotel renovations , model rooms and hotel feedbacks, we have gathered user feedback on specific type of floor lamps.
We want to provide an option for the guest to control the intensity of the light output, yet we don't want any harsh glares. We want an innovated design that is intuitive.
When looking at off-the-shelf products, we considered these factors as well as the type of switch and how we can optimize energy consumption .
Hilton hotels are known for their classic contemporary design.
I wanted to create a striking and clean floor lamp that will be a mature addition to the space. I decided to go with a classic, timeless tripod shape and incorporate the latest LED technology.
The goal is to provide adequate yet comfortable lighting in the guestroom so a hotel guest would feel relaxed and welcome.
Since a typical hotel renovation happens every 8-10 years, I focused on the longevity of the product. The fixture needs to be easy to use and low maintenance for hotel operations. We also thought about guest safety. We made sure the floor lamp have a weight base, so it doesn't tip over.
I took a play on proportion and scale as well as materials. Instead of a typical light bulb, we incorporated LED strips with a built in transformer into the fixture. The hotel guest will have an option to have the light on full brightness or lower light intensity to feel comfortable.
Since the owner like to see the LED dots, we reviewed different shade fabric that would be semi-transparent (easy on the eye yet still shows the LED dots). The shade highlight the LED strips, which gives off a sparkle effect.
Features:
The floor lamp has a Low / High On/Off Rocket Switch.
Low switch controls the three middle row of LEDs (Rows 4, 5, 6)
High switch controls all the LEDs
Round weighted base to prevent the fixture from tipping.
